Rare red Ferrari tops ‘Pinnacle Collection’ classic car auction
The “Pinnacle Collection”, which had been touted as an “unrepeatable opportunity” for classic car enthusiasts contained 10 Ferraris, two Mercedes, two Bugattis, two Lamborghinis, two Porsches, a Saleen, Koenigsegg, Jaguar, a Maserati, a McLaren and a 1967 Toyota.
Auctioneers, R M Sotheby’s had a pre-auction estimate on the collection of NZ$122m but in the end 12 per cent of the cars did not sell, including a yellow 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione that had been forecasted to fetch NZ$25m.
